FreeRice.com – Feed the World

Posted by Anirudha on November 13, 2007

Today while talking with my friend, he mentioned about the site FreeRice.com .FreeRice.com

It provides English vocabulary for free. Its like vocabulary game, for every one correct answer it donates 10 grains of rice to United Nations World Food Program (WFP) .

It helps to end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.

The FreeRice began on 7 October 2007 and the donations are increasing exponentially.

The rice is paid for by the advertisers who put their banners on the site.

So go there, improve and test you vocabulary and help end the hunger.

I liked freerice.com too, so I typed out a little firefox extension as a companion to the site. You might want to check it out if you use Firefox or Seamonkey.

    Hey,

Avanoo is a startup that is trying to help make the world better by letting people use a new support channel- web presence. Web users can go to Avanoo.com get a badge for a cause and start raising awareness and donations 24/7 effortlessly. And each time one of these badge is clicked, a donation is made to the nonprofit organization on the badge. If you could put a badge on you blog or write about this growing movement, you would be helping to make the world a better place!

    Thanks,

    Rajesh
